Geraldine 'Jerry' Dorothy Foley was born November 30, 1925 on a farm in rural Anthon, Iowa to Americus Joseph (A.J.) King and Mary Alice (McDermott) King. Jerry was the youngest of eleven children growing up in rural Anthon. She had four sisters and six brothers.
Jerry stared her elementary education at St. Joseph Catholic School in Anthon, Iowa, and also attended grade school in Kingsley and Bronson, Iowa and graduating from Quimby High School in 1944. She worked at Farner Bocken Company, Cherokee Produce candling eggs and Delaplane Shoe Store in Cherokee, Iowa after graduation.
She was married to William J. Foley on October 18, 1945 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Sioux City, Iowa where she worked at a concession stand in a ball park. In 1958 they moved to a farm in Bronson, Iowa. Jerry helped with the farming and livestock. They sold their farm in Bronson and in 1964 they bought a farm in Quimby, Iowa. Jerry would work for her brother, Bill at King's Tap in Quimby. Bill and Jerry retired in 1979 and built a new house in Quimby and lived there the rest of their lives. Jerry loved her flowers and had quite the collection of roosters in her kitchen. She was noted for her homemade chicken and noodles and angel food cake with peanut butter frosting. She loved watching 'Days of Our Lives' and doing word find books. Her family was her world. She loved to have them around her all the time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on September 5, 2015 and her brothers, Ed, Lawrence, Allen, Joe, Paul and Bill King and sisters, Marie McNear, Agnes Sawin, Ann Wright, Velrene Swanger and her great granddaughter, Faith Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children, Priscilla Nelson, Connie Hill, both of Quimby, Bev (Glen) Woltman of Cleghorn, Jack (Juli) Foley and Bill (Carolyn) Foley of Quimby and eighteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Lucille King, many nieces and nephews and including a special nephew, Doug Wright.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Monday with the family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service following the visitation at the funeral home.
