Gerald Austin Voge, the son of Walter and Geneva (Leonard) Voge, was born June 18, 1938, at Galva, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Galva where he received his education and graduated in 1956. After high school he attended Iowa State for a semester and returned home to help his father farm.
On June 19, 1965, Gerald was united in marriage to Laura Krogman at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ashton, IA. Following their marriage they made their home in Cherokee. Jerry worked several different jobs which included Sioux City Dressed Beef, Benberg Movers, Munson Furniture, Swanson’s Grocery Store, and Walnut Grove. He then worked for Hy-Vee for 27 years before retiring in 1997.
Jerry was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, golf, scratching lottery tickets and searching for things with his metal detector. He played on several bowling leagues, and also served on the Little League Board. Jerry enjoyed attending his children’s activities, especially wrestling tournaments. Most of all, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
On Saturday, November 16, 2019, Jerry passed away at Accura Health in Cherokee at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Voge; parents, Walter and Geneva Voge; brothers: Billy Voge, Allen Voge, Dennis Voge, and Paul Voge.
He is survived by his two sons, Clark (Dawn) Voge of Cherokee, IA, and Chris Voge of Elkhorn, NE; grandsons, Dawson Voge of Cherokee, IA, and Connor Voge of South Sioux City, IA; step-grandchildren, Ashley Gehrts of Larrabee, IA, Adam Gehrts of Aurelia, IA, Melanie (Todd) Bauer of Holstein, IA; and Amber (Tyler) Pierson and their daughter Lydia of Cleghorn, IA; one sister, Karen (Carroll) Perking of Jefferson, IA; one brother, Patrick (Anne) Voge of Iowa Falls, IA; sisters-in-law, Jyl Voge of Lincoln, NE and Lois Voge of Galva, IA; several nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Public visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening with the family present during that time. There will be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service Tuesday night following the visitation at the funeral home.
