Gerald 'Jerry' Vernon Britt

Gerald (Jerry) Vernon Britt, age 65, passed away on March 1, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD after a lengthy illness. Gerald was born to Vernon and Marie (Roeser) Britt on February 19, 1948 in LeMars, IA. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he spent eight years and two tours of duty in Vietnam as a diesel mechanic. After returning from Vietnam, he joined the Army National Guard in Storm Lake, IA. On August 16, 1975 he married Patricia Ann Hohbach at St. James Catholic Church in Neptune, IA. Gerald spent many years "turning wrenches", as he would call it, in Cherokee and the surrounding area. Gerald enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Gerald would talk to anyone even if you were a total stranger or if he hadn't seen you in years. Gerald is survived by his loving wife Patricia of Aurelia; a daughter Susanna Bush and her husband Eric of Aurelia; three granddaughters, Brittany, Alyssa, and Rylea; a son Jeremy Britt and his wife Monica of Bartlesville, OK; one grandson, Noah; two sisters; three brothers; and an uncle, Vincent Roeser and his wife Joyce of Le Mars, IA. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Norbert and Marie Katherine Britt, and one sister Carla Nelson.
