Geneva Emily Buenger

Geneva Emily Buenger, was born on a cold and snowy morning on January 21, 1924 to Bernhard C. and Emma W. (Schwartz) Buenger, the second oldest of children on the farm near Mapleton, IA. In 1940 they moved to farm near Aurelia, IA. She was baptized at St. Matthew in Mapleton on February 10, 1924. She was confirmed May 22, 1938. She worked on the farm until 1975 when she moved to town with her parents, she then worked at a turkey farm, Aurelia School, Casey's, library, the church, and bank in Aurelia. Geneva enjoyed helping people, loved her collections, gardening, quilting, crocheting, and her flowers. On September 26, 2015, Geneva passed away at the age of 91. She was preceded in death by her parents, B.C and Emma Buenger; and brothers: Raymond, Robert, Fredrick, Henry, and Donald. She is survived by a brother, Bernhardt Buenger of Aurelia; sister, Meta Mae Hotz of California; sister-in-law; Darylene Buenger of Aurelia, IA; and many nieces; nephews; and loved ones.
SERVICES
A public visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with the family present during that time at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. A private family service will be held at a later date.
