Frances (Kirchoff) Reinert was born on August 10, 1927, to Louis and Elsie (Weber) Kirchoff at Cleghorn, IA. She attended a rural school in Amherst Township, as well as high schools in Cherokee and Marcus, Mesa, AZ, and finally returned to Cleghorn where she graduated in 1946.
Most of France's life was spent on farms in Cherokee County. Prior to her marriage she worked at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute and at Ellerbrock's Clothing. She was united in marriage to Carl Reinert in January of 1948 at Marcus, IA. Early on in the marriage they spent four years living in Minnesota, and later on lived in Alton, IA before returning to Cherokee. Once her children were grown, Frances worked in a nursing home and with the Headstart Program.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Guild, American Legion Auxiliary, Second Division Auxiliary-Iowa Branch, and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W Auxiliary #2253. She loved gardening, flowers and bird watching.
Frances passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at the Country Side Estates in Cherokee, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Elsie Kirchoff, her husband, Carl, a brother, Kenny Kirchoff and a sister, Max McCannon.
Survivors include a son Charles Reinert and his wife, Betsy, of Harrisburg, SD, and a daughter, Margaret and her husband, Keylon 'Digger' Duin of LeMars, IA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.
