Frances M. Vaughan

Frances M. Vaughan, the daughter of John and Clara (Bicksler) Miller, was born May 24, 1915, in Sac County, Iowa. Her Childhood years were spent in Sac County where she received her education while helping on the farm. On December 14, 1940 she was united in marriage to Bernard Vaughan at Storm Lake, IA. In 1961 they bought the Skyline Motel in Cherokee. They were motel managers until January of 1974. Bernard passed away in 1973. The following year, Frances moved to Arthur. Frances was a very devout Christian. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family. On Monday, May 21, 2012, Frances passed away at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, IA at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Vaughan; three daughters: Baby Vaughan at birth, Mary Jane Norris, and Cheryl Vaughan; one granddaughter, Kimberly Bendixen; siblings: Rose Terlisner, Blanche Theis, Pearl (Roll) Dinges, Vincent Miller, and Leo Miller. She is survived by her children: Bernard Jr. (Shari) Vaughan of Norwalk, IA, John Vaughan of Aurelia, IA, and Debra (Don) Rogge of Loveland, CO; nine grandchildren: Troy Vaughan, Todd Vaughan, Terry Vaughan, David Vaughan, Kristi Phipps, Vicki Allbaugh, Jason Rogge, Erin Rogge, and Donald Norris; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Miller of Odebolt, IA, Florence Wunschel of Ida Grove, IA, and Ruth Roeder and many other relatives and friends.
