Frances Charlene (Sechler) Mongan, daughter of LeRoy and Frances (Dunn) Sechler, was born on August 22, 1927 in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Meriden area where she graduated from Meriden High School in 1945.
Charlene was united in marriage to Donald Mongan on June 6, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee, Iowa. To this union three sons and a daughter were raised. They made their home in Cherokee, IA.
Charlene worked clerical help at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute from the time she graduated to 1950 and then went onto work as a nurse's aide for ten years at the Greggs Hilltop Nursing Home. She later became the administrator of Hiserote Nursing Home until 1983 and then worked for Homemaker Health Services until 2008. Charlene enjoyed taking care of people! In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
On February 22, 2013, Charlene passed away at the Careage Hills Nursing Home at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald in 1982 and her parents, Leroy and Frances Sechler.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rick (Bonnie) Mongan of Cherokee, IA; Roger Mongan of Burnsville, MN; Ronald (Melissa) Mongan of Aurelia, IA; and Kathy Mongan of Ottumwa, IA; brothers: Ron (Edie) Sechler of Meriden, IA; Don Sechler of Meriden, IA; brothers-in-law: Dean (Norma) Mongan of Cherokee, IA and Bob (Marga) Mongan of Desoto, IA; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, with the family present from 5:00-700 P.M. Monday night at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
