Floyd was born on December 27, 1922 to Peter and Emma (Ament) Reinert in Cherokee County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. Floyd attended county school, one year at Meriden High School and graduated from Quimby High School in 1940. In World War II, he served in the Pacific theatre aboard a destroyer, the U.S.S. Stoddard.
Floyd married Hilda Henke on January 7, 1947. She preceded him in death in August 1976. He later married Evelyn Wilson on December 21, 1986.
Following his discharge from service, he worked for Scothorn Contruction and in 1951 began his own business, Reinert Machine Shop. Floyd operated his business until he retired in December 1987.
Floyd enjoyed visiting family and friends. He also enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada and especially enjoyed his trips to Texas in the winter months. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he attended regularly, participated in the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight and was lifetime member of the V.F.W.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Hilda, son Ralph Reinert, grandson Zachary Reinert, brother Carl Reinert, three sisters including Dorothy Tolzin, Mildred Callison, Verna Sticka and second wife Evelyn.
He is survived by children: Janet (Ralph) Reinert of Fort Worth, Texas; Phillip (Sharon) Reinert of Cherokee; Paul (Susan) Reinert of Cherokee; Michael (Brenda) Reinert of Alta; Mary Jo (Ted) Cline of Cherokee; John (Lorie) Reinert of Cherokee; Dale (Lisa) Reinert or Storm Lake; Elizabeth Reinert of Cherokee; and Floyd Peter (Janet) Reinert of Lakeside; sister Helen Elliot of Colorado; step-son Michael (Michelle) Wilson of Ames; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Monday, with the family present from 5-7 P.M. Monday night at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a 7 P.M. prayer service followed by a K.C. Rosary Monday following the visitation at the funeral home.
