Everett "Mickey" Mitchell Lame, Jr.

Everett “Mickey” Mitchell Lame, Jr, the son of Everett, Sr. and Debra (Craig) Lame, was born March 11, 1977, in Des Moines, IA. His childhood years were spent in Des Moines, where he attended school and graduated from East High School in 1995. Following school, he worked as a forklift operator for a local warehouse.

Everett moved to Cherokee, IA in 2016. He worked for the Hy-Vee gas station for several years, moving his way up to manager for two years. He then moved to the store and had worked in the meat and cheese department.

Everett had many hobbies. He was a backyard mechanic, always working and tinkering on cars. He enjoyed football, especially rooting on his Denver Broncos. He was also a fantastic cook. More than anything, Everett enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially the weekly Saturday night meal with the whole family. Everett had a kind heart and will be remembered as always wanting to help people and be there for others in their time of need.

On March 29, 2023, Everett passed away unexpectedly at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 46. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Debra Lame; one nephew, Joe Lame, Jr.; nieces, Christina Martin and Brianna Lame; his grandparents, aunts and uncles, and his beloved dog, Nelly.

He will lovingly be remembered by his brothers, Richard (Cherie) Lame of Cherokee, IA, Joseph Lame of Sheldon, IA, and Jason Blaskey of Cherokee, IA; two nieces, Autumn Lame and Alexis Mitchell; and many aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
