Eileen M. Bush

September 9, 1932 — June 15, 2016

Eileen Mae Bush, daughter of Archie and Emma (Girard) Begnoche, was born on September 9, 1932, near Jefferson, South Dakota. She attended rural elementary school at Sioux Point, South Dakota until 1946, Elk Point School for one year, and then finished her education in Sioux City, Iowa, where she graduated from Heelan High School in 1950. On July 11, 1950, Eileen married James Francis Bush of rural Cleghorn, Iowa, at Sacred Heart Church in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived on the family farm southwest of Cherokee, where they raised eight children. She took great pride in being a housewife. Eileen was a member of the Maryhill Visitation Church where she was active as a Eucharistic Minister, served on the decorating committee, and belonged to the Maryhill Guild. After a storm demolished the church in August, 2006, she became a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee, where she sang with the I.C. funeral choir and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. For many years, she and Jim were avid members of the Marcus and Kingsley square dance clubs. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, square dancing, playing cards, writing letters, and reading 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' books. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her four sons and three daughters: Dennis (Deb) Bush of Cleghorn, IA, Patricia (Doug) Mortenson of Maple Grove, MN, Wayne Bush of Cherokee, IA, Charlotte (Joseph) Groves of Cherokee, IA, Evonne (Chris) Hockert of Stanchfield, MN, Alan (Christine) Bush of Cleghorn, IA, and Bryan (Lori) Bush of Cleghorn, IA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Nathan (Jenni) Bush, Randall (Leann) Bush, Dana (Chris) O'Connell, Angela (Travis) Benner, Amber (Rusty) Hartman, Jeff Groves, Eric Groves, Ryan Hockert, Regina Hockert, Joseph (Sara) Bush, Josh Bush, Daniel Bush, Emily Bush, Michael Bush, and Megan Bush; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cleo Begnoche and Harvey (Joyce) Begnoche; one sister, Carol (Robert) Bliven; one sister-in-law, Erma Bush; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Bush, in 2013; a son, Kenneth J. Bush, in 1984, and her parents, Archie and Emma Begnoche. Eileen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will truly be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
