Dorothy Elaine (Nagel) Rienfeld was born June 11, 1928, at Battle Creek, IA. She was the daughter of Milton and Jeanette (Stoneberg) Nagel of Odebolt, IA. Dorothy lived on farms; first north of Arthur, IA, and then south of Arthur with her parents, and attended country grade schools. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1945. After graduation she worked at Union Pacific Railroad Headquarters in Omaha. Later in life she attended Western Iowa Technical College in Sioux City. Dorothy's career was in retail sales and real estate. She was a real estate broker with Washburn W. Steele Realty of Cherokee.
Dorothy was married February 1, 1946, to Ralph D. Neville at Sac City, Iowa. To this union was born three daughters, Dorothy Elaine, Dawn Marie, and Vicki Lynn. She married R. Dean Rienfeld on November 15, 1975 at Sioux Falls, SD.
Dorothy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Spencer, and attended First Church of Christ in Cherokee. She was a past officer of Local 179 Union Auxiliary of Cherokee, United Counties Board of Realtors and Multiple Listing Service. She was a special correspondent for the Daily Reporter of Spencer and the Daily Times of Cherokee. She was a past hostess for the Welcome Wagon Organization of Cherokee.
Dorothy passed away at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, having reached the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Vicki Neville, her husband Dean Rienfeld, a brother-in-law, Vernon Rienfeld, and an aunt, Nellie Stoneberg.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Dottie (Lee) Hecht of Rochester, MN, and Dawn Killmer of Bella Vista, AR; 6 grandchildren: Tod, Scott and Paul Hecht, Nicole Liebman, Chantel and Regan Killmer; 7 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Eliana, and Russell Liebman, Shasta, Sitka, Sebastian and Benjamin Hecht; sister-in-law, Bonnie Siltman; cousins, Viola (Bill) Carlson, Muriel Erickson, and Lorraine Hanson nieces and nephews and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10, at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
