Dorothy Jeanette Kohn was born on July 19, 1915 to Frank and Josephine (Heinen) Kohn in Cherokee, Iowa. She went to Pilot #3 rural elementary school. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Cherokee, IA in 1933. She went to one year of nursing school in Sioux City, Iowa. Dorothy then moved to Omaha, NE and worked at Pendelton clothing factory as a seamstress.
On July 2, 1955, Dorothy married Earl Crandall at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. They later moved to Baltimore, MD where she worked as a seamstress making men's suits. After Earl's death in 1981, Dorothy moved back to Cherokee, IA to be closer to her family. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in which she was involved with the I.C. Women's Guild. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and cooking.
On Sunday, November, 25, 2012, Dorothy passed away at Careage Hills Nursing Home in Cherokee, IA where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, one brother, Melvin Kohn, two sisters, Evelyn Brownmiller and Berniece Casey, a brother and sister in infancy, two brothers-in-law, three nieces,, one sister-in-law, and two nephews.
Dorothy is survived by one brother, Delbert (Irene) Kohn of Battle Creek, IA, two sisters, Fran Dye of Reno, NV, Margaret (Midge) Courtright of Cherokee, IA, and one brother-in-law, Jim Casey of Omaha, NE, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday night at Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
