Doris Lillian Gottsche

Doris Lillian Gottsche, the daughter of Aaron and Betty (Nelson) Alm, was born on December 29, 1926, on the family farm north of Cleghorn, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Cleghorn where she attended school. She graduated from Cleghorn High School. On July 31, 1948, she was united in marriage to George Gottsche at her parent's farm. Following their marriage, they resided near Cleghorn where she worked at Cleghorn State Bank for four years. Doris then worked for the Cleghorn Post Office for 32 years. She was also George's right hand on the farm during harvest seasons. Doris was a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marcus, where she was baptized and confirmed. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, and playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. On Friday, June 28, 2013, Doris passed away peacefully at her residence at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Betty Alm; one infant son, Richard Lee Gottsche; and one brother, Arne Alm. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, George Gottsche of rural Meriden; two daughters: Sue (Chuck) Lindgren of Aurelia, and Marilyn Morse of Santa Maria, CA; four grandchildren: Laura Shanahan, Mark Lindgren, Caren Jessup, and Steven (Elysia) Howard; 10 great-grandchildren: Bradly, Amie, Alex, Jonathan, Jana, Samantha, Cecelia, Natalie, DeLanie Marie, and Christian; one sister, Helen Nelson of Remsen and formerly Marcus, IA; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
