Donald Raymond Radke, the son of Fred and Marie (Winterhof) Radke was born August 30, 1926 in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He was baptized on September 10, 1926 and confirmed on March 17, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hanover, IA. He received his education at St. John's Parochial School.
On February 17, 1957, Donald was united in marriage to Vivian Darlene Grauer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Don farmed the family farm until 1997 when they moved to Cherokee. Don enjoyed people and never met a 'stranger'. He enjoyed singing and sang in the choir at St. John's Church for over 50 years. His brothers and sister formed the 'Radke Quartet'. They sang for many functions in Northwest Iowa. They enjoyed sharing their beautiful musical abilities. Don collected many caps throughout his life, from seed corn sales and farm functions. He had some eye problems and lost his ability to see for several years. As his health declined, he was always ready for his Heavenly Father to take him from this earthly home.
On September 25, 2017, Don passed away at Accura Health in Cherokee at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Marie Radke; brothers, Darrell, Harold (Vera), Ervin (Alice) Orville (Lola), Merle (Ruth) Wayne, and Lee (JoAnn), sisters: Darlene Lundin, and Esther (Martin) Einspahr; sister-in-law, Carole Grauer; brothers-in-law, Charles Stoner, Dale Grauer, Robert Grauer, and Orville Saxby.
