Denise Jones, the daughter of Amber Simm, was born June 14, 1962, in Cherokee, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on the farm near Cleghorn. She attended school at Meriden-Cleghorn and graduated from Meriden-Cleghorn High School.
Following her schooling, Denise worked at Jessie's Dollar Store, Bert's Whistle Stop, and most recently Carey's Cafe in Cherokee.
Denise enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Green Bay Packers. She liked collecting antiques, camping, and was the best 'Mimi' in the world to her grandson Carson. Most of all Denise loved being around her family and friends.
On August 7, 2011, Denise passed away unexpectedly at her home near Cleghorn at the age of 49. She was preceded in death by her longtime soul mate Rodney Bergstrom whom she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Victor and Mabel Schincke and Jim and Lorraine Simm.
She is survived by one son, Andy (Jessica) Jones and their son Carson of Aurelia, IA; her mother, Amber Simm of Meriden, IA; two sisters: Dawn (Tom) Donley and their children, Heather and Emily of Cottage Grove, MN, and Ronda Simm of Cherokee and her son Eric (Suzie) Bush and their daughter Rylea of Aurelia, IA; two brothers: Dan Simm and his special friend Deanna Burmakow and their children Brittani, Allison, and Jackson of Paullina, IA, and Scott and Rose Simm of Cherokee, IA; two step-grandchildren: Parker and Kain Nelson; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Cherokee V.F.W.
