Delores Katharina Schueder

 Delores Katharina Schueder, the daughter of John and Katharina (Langholz) Bern, was born April 13, 1927, in Cherokee County, IA. She was baptized in the reformed Church in Calumet, IA. Delores went to Sunday school for 10 years not missing a Sunday. She received many pins for her perfect attendance. Growing up, she enjoyed helping her father do chores on the farm.

  On September 20, 1947, Delores was united in marriage to James Schueder. They resided on a farm near Larrabee, IA, where she helped with farm chores while raising her children.  After leaving the farm Delores worked in a Donut Shop in Florida for a few years. Upon returning to Cherokee she worked as a cook at Countryside estate then later at Pride Group. While at Pride Group, it was her joy helping other people. She was simply known as Grandma. She always said her job was really rewarding and the secret for a long life is to love what you do and love the people. Where else could we go to find comfort, acceptance, forgiveness, encouragement, praise, and consolation all in one big hug?

 Delores joined the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in 1970, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed playing cards, and belonged to the neighborhood birthday club. She enjoyed making her own clothes and dresses for her four children. Delores belonged to a Canasta Club, 500 Club, and was a 4H leader. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always stood on the front porch waving good bye to them when they left.

 On Saturday, October 30, 2021, Delores passed away at Accura in Cherokee at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, James N. Schueder; parents, John and Katie Bern; father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Laura Schueder; sisters, Velma Phillips and Luella Wede; brothers-in-law, Robert Philips, Delbert Wede, Jack Schueder, Joe Schueder, and Darrell Meyer;  and sisters-in-law, Eileen Schueder, Jean Schueder, and Len Nicholas.

 She will lovingly be remembered by her four children and their families; daughter, Kathleen (Max) Zimmerman, and their children Matthew Zimmerman and his son Lane Zimmerman, Mark (Haley) Zimmerman and their daughter, Lilly Zimmerman; daughter, Rosemary (Robert) Cronin and their children, Laura (Matt) Miller and their children, Olivia and Madeline Miller, and Carrie (Todd) Brownmiller) and their children, Cole, Drake, and Kaden Brownmiller; Thomas (Katy) Cronin and daughter Jane Cronin; son, Richard Schueder; and son Dan (Charlotte) Schueder, and their children, Katie (Tim) Mangan and daughters, Haleigh and Hannah Mangan, Mary (Nick) Olhausen and their daughters, Lauren and Emily Olhausen, Derek (Jody) Schueder and their children, Aubrey, Madison, and Brayden Schueder, and Erica Schueder; sister-in-law, Julie Meyer;  and other relatives and friends.
