Delbert William Biberdorf, 70, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away on November 23, 2017 surrounded by family. A memorial service will take place at Greenwood Schbert Funeral Home, December 9th, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Cherokee, IA.
Delbert William Biberdorf was born on December 12, 1946, a child of Oscar and Vera Biberdorf of Quimby. He attended school at Quimby, IA and graduated from high school in 1964. He then proudly served in the United States Army.
On October 11, 1969, Delbert and Connie Smith were united in marriage at The Methodist Church in Quimby, IA. They made their home in Cherokee. Delbert provided for his family by working at Wilsons Foods for 43 years. He retired in 2011.
Delbert was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting and trapping and sharing that love of fishing with his kids, grandkids and friends. He was involved with the Little Sioux Wildlife, Cherokee Ridgerunners Black Powder club and Friends of Conservation and could always be found around the big stew pot at the yearly conservation cookout.
He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 48 years, Connie of Cherokee; his children, Paul (Shannon) Biberdorf of Lincoln, NE, Laura Biberdorf of Fort Dodge, IA and Laci (Scott) Thompson of Fort Dodge, IA and grandchildren Brody and Blythe Biberdorf, Amari Bonner and Tony and Julie Thompson. Also, brothers Donnie (Karen) Biberdorf and David (Roberta) Biberdorf of Texas and, brothers-in-law Frank Clymens, Kenny (Wanda) Smith, Louis (Vickie) Smith, Ed Smith, Robert Smith, and Michael Smith and sisters-in-law Rosie Hanson, Patti (Gary) Gleason and Judy (Jeff) Miller, Linda (Mark) Lumbert and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Deanna Clymens, mother and father-in-law Manfred Sr. and Hildegard Smith, brothers-in-law Manfred (Fred) Smith Jr., Robert (Bob) Hanson, and James Smith, and one niece, Trudy Denery.
SERVICES
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, DECEMBER 9, 2017, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
