Debra Ann Shear, the daughter of Herb and Hilda (Stephens) Boettger was born on June 24, 1951, in Sioux City, IA. Her childhood years were spent in rural Merrill, IA. She later attended and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1970.
On November 7, 1973, Debra was united In marriage to Howard Shear at Elk Point, SD. Following their marriage they lived in Indianola, IA. In 1979, they moved to Cherokee, IA, where she was a homemaker. She later worked for Bill’s Bottles and Cans, and in 1992, worked at the Cherokee Landfill where she was a Supervisor until her retirement in 2012.
Debra enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, playing Bingo, Gambling, and attending garage sales. She also liked to read and fish. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Howard and Debra enjoyed their summers at their acreage, watching the birds and the deer, and taking care of their many iris’.
On April 22, 2020, Debra passed away at her residence with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Hilda Boettger; and her husband, Howard Shear in 2019.
She will lovingly be remembered by her children: Sheila (Garret) Reeves, Randall (Lauren) Shear, and Danielle (Shane) Claussen; grandchildren: Samantha (Chris) Gill, Summer Reeves, Sarah (Noah) Decious, Shelby Reeves, Sydney Reeves, Amber Feeney, Chloe Shear, Kaden Shear, Kasha Shear, Katharine Claussen, and Megan Claussen; great-grandchildren, Kai’lia Reynolds and Saphira Cords; brothers, Darrell Boettger, Dave Boettger, Dean (Sharon) Boettger, and Duane (Roseanne) Boettger; two sisters, Donna Terrell and Deanna (Mike) Mulder; and other relatives and many friends.
