DAVID PAUL MUELLER

David Paul Mueller, age 73 of Sheldon, IA, and formerly of Cherokee, IA, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Sanford Sheldon Care Center in Sheldon, IA. A celebration of David’s life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. A private family burial will take place prior to the cemetery at Maryhill Cemetery, rural Cherokee, IA. Military rites will be conducted by the Cherokee V.F.W. L.A. Wescott Post 2253, and the American Legion. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements. David Paul Mueller, son of Emil Mueller and Kathryn (George) Mueller, was born on June 29, 1951, in Cherokee, IA. He attended Cherokee schools, graduating from Washington High School in 1969. David proudly served our country as he went into the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in February 1970. David continued his education at Western Iowa Tech earning his LPN degree. He went to work for the State Hospital in Cherokee, IA and continued his career at several area nursing homes. 

David was united in marriage to Joyce Green and to this union two children were born, Jason and Leigh. He then was united in marriage to Helen Resene and to this union one son Aaron was born. They later divorced.

David loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, trapping and constructing model ships. David enjoyed cooking, putting together puzzles and watching old western movies. 

On September 29, 2024, David passed away peacefully at Sanford Senior Center in Sheldon, IA. He was preceded by his parents, Emil and Kathryn Mueller; brother, Dennis Mueller; grandson, Trevor Brown and his former wife, Joyce Mueller.

David is survived by his children, Jason (Karla Boirivant) Mueller and their son, Charlie from Minneapolis, MN; Leigh Brown and her three children, Alexis, Dakota and Hunter Brown of Sheldon, IA; and Aaron Mueller of Columbus, OH; brothers, Jim (Julie) Mueller of Pella, IA and Joe (Carol) Mueller of Portland, OR; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
