Darlene Mae Korleski

April 23, 1928 — October 9, 2022

Darlene Mae (Benjamin) Korleski was born on April 23, 1928 in Laurel, NE to George Earl and Mabel Matilda (Anderson) Benjamin. She spent her childhood in Laurel, NE where she graduated from Laurel High School.  After high school, she attended cosmetology school in Sioux City, IA. 

On July 17, 1948, Darlene married Leonard Dean Korleski in Storm Lake, IA.  Darlene and Leonard made their home in Cherokee, IA   where they were married for 61 wonderful years.  They were parents to Glenna, Darrell, Connie, Rhonda, and Dean. 

Darlene, along with her husband, was the owner of Northside Tire business in Cherokee, IA for 45 years.  Darlene enjoyed camping with Leonard and gardening in her free time.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were the light of her life.

Darlene passed away at her home on Sunday, October 9, 2022, surrounded by her family.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard, sister, Doris Larson, brother, Earl Benjamin and son-in-law, Jerry Houser.

Darlene is survived by her children, Glenna Houser of Johnston, IA, Darrell Korleski of Cherokee, IA, Connie (Butch)  Carstens of Quimby, IA, Rhonda (Terry) Glienke of Cherokee, IA, Dean Korleski and fiancé, Tammy Boothby of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren, Joanna Schmidt of DesMoines, IA, Jon (Heather) Houser of Polk City, IA, Amy (Mitch) Loucks of Cherokee, IA, Mark Schmidt of Carroll, IA, Dena (Drew) Vonnahme of Polk City, IA, Greg (Amanda) Korleski of Cherokee, IA, Matthew Glienke of Rembrandt, IA; great-grandchildren, Makaelyn Glienke of Sioux City, IA, Tayven Glienke of Cherokee, IA, Daenon Loucks of Cherokee, IA, Taylor and Tristyn Korleski of Cherokee, IA, Becca, Jacob and Olivia Houser of Polk City, IA, and Caitlin and Devin Vonnahme of Polk City, IA; sister-in-law, Doris Benjamin, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Janice Korleski, and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICES
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cherokee.

VISITATION
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
INTERMENT
Mt. Calvary Cemetery
