Dan Dean Dailey, the son of Elaine (Parks) and George Dailey, Jr., was born in Monterey, CA, on September 7, 1950. He grew up on a farm near Sutherland, IA, and graduated from Sutherland High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Chicago. He was Honorably Discharged in 1976, after serving for 6 years.
On September 4, 1976, Dan married June Robinson. They made their home in Sioux Falls, SD, and were blessed with two sons, James and David. The couple later divorced, but remained close friends. Dan drove truck for over 30 years. The majority of that time spent with Allied Moving and Storage, and later with Myrl & Roy Trucking out of Sioux Falls, SD. He was part of a group of friends that gathered at the truck stop every morning at 4AM for coffee. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and reading. When he was younger he loved riding his horses and watching horror movies. Dan was a family man, and relished any time he could find to be with his family.
Dan passed away at his sister's home in Remsen, IA, on May 6, 2017, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Florence Mildred 'Sissy' Dailey.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons: James and his wife, Natasha Dailey of Rembrandt, IA, and David and his wife, Michelle Dailey of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren, Thomas, Zach and Jasmin; his siblings: Linda Dailey of NJ, Mike (Cindy) Dailey of Cherokee, IA, Debbie Dailey of Calumet, IA, Patricia Dailey of Remsen, IA, and Eugene Dailey of OK; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
