Dale Duane Graham was born to Darrell Robert Graham and Jane Janiece (Julius) Graham February 25, 1954 in Cherokee, Iowa. He spent his young childhood on a nearby farm with his parents and two sisters (Diane Thomas and Debbie Broderson). On November 7, 1961 a seven year old Dale stepped off the school bus to hear of his mother’s passing due to a farm accident. Soon after Dale and his family moved in with his grandparents Robert and Violet (Mann) Graham. He lived in “the big house” until he was sixteen years of age.

Full of young wonder, adventure, and a willingness to work, Dale joined the Baumann Show carnival at the age of sixteen. He traveled multiple seasons and with multiple shows for many years. He spoke fondly of his time on the carnival, often calling it the best time of his life. He loved operating the Ferris Wheel and was notorious for rocking it when he was riding with you. He made lifelong friends and memories. Always with a smile he would tell stories of riding his motorcycle long distances to different shows.

On September 29, 1976 Dale married Cynthia (Kolpin) Graham with her promise of making Grandma Violet’s beef and noodles. In forty-eight years of marriage they had two children, William Robert (1981) and Jessica Janiece (1983). As the years passed he worked hard and made memories with those he met and loved. There were carnivals, motorcycle rides, roller skating, and fishing trips. All remembered and cherished by his wife, children, family, friends, numerous nieces and nephews, and his grandson Dominic Dale Klaschen (2004).

During the months, weeks, and days preceding Dale’s death he adamantly stated he did not want a “pity party” when he was gone. He was excited to see his mother again. Let us remember him for who he was. He had a laugh that could be heard in a crowd. He was generous, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, check on those in need, and giving to others without recognition. He was a small package with mighty strength and personality. With the spirit and wishes of Dale, his family would like to invite you to celebrate his life and share the memories you have of him.
