Charlton Earl Wheeler was born December 13, 1933, in Dallas, IA, to Carl and Lucille (Logue) Wheeler. He graduated from Wilson High School in Cherokee in 1952.
He was united in marriage to Delores Adolf. He worked for Wilson Foods of Cherokee, was a Red Cross instructor, and was President of Cherokee Credit Union for several years. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Perrins' cabin in Canada. He loved hiking to old ghost towns in the Rockies in Colorado, and a special trip to Hawaii.
Charlie passed away at his home in Cherokee on December 31, 1913. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sherry Wheeler and brother, Larry Wheeler; in-laws, Albert and Dottie Escue, Dale Adolf and Arlo Sturgeon.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Delores; four daughters: Kathleen (Duane) Dilts of Omaha, NE, Teresa (Kelly) Perrin of Cherokee, Jean Wheeler of Danbury, IA, and Laurie Wheeler of Cherokee; five granddaughters: Christina (Donovan) Wunschel of Spencer, IA, Angela Eiden of Cherokee, Alysia (John) Koontz of Waterloo, IA, Mary (Wade) Cowan of Cherokee, and Abby (Nathan) Tentinger of Cleghorn, IA; two step-grandchildren, Jeff (Bethany) Dilts of Omaha, NE, and Julie (Michael) Davenport of Santa Barbara, CA; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Roberta (Bill) Hueser of George, IA, sisters-in-law, Linda Wheeler of Cherokee, La Donna Adolf of Shelbyville, KY, and Donna Sturgeon of Lancaster, CA; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
A time of remembrance and going home celebration will be held from 2:00-4:00 P.M. Saturday, January 4, 2013, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
