Charlotte Eisenmenger

January 20, 1922 — September 27, 2010

Charlotte Eisenmenger, the daughter of John and Lillie M. (Sargisson) Reilly, was born January 20, 1922, in Sioux City, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Sioux City area where she attended school. The family then moved to Aurelia, IA where she attended High School and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1940. She then attended Business College in Sioux City for one year. In 1942, Charlotte worked for the MHI in Cherokee. The following year she joined the Navy WAVES where she was stationed in New York City, Stillwater, OK, and Washington D.C. until her honorable discharge in 1946. On February 28, 1946, Charlotte was united in marriage to Joseph V. Eisenmenger at I.C. Catholic Church in Cherokee. To this union four children were born; JoAnn, John, Polly, and Pat. In 1952, the family moved to a farm north of Galva, IA and remained there until moving to a farm south of Cherokee in 1955. They moved to Cherokee in 1970 due to Joseph's failing health. Charlotte returned to work at the MHI where she worked in the wards, OT, housekeeping and Social Services Departments. Charlotte retired from the MHI in 1984, and moved to Perry, IA, and Loveland, CO where she helped babysit her two grandchildren. Charlotte eventually moved back to Cherokee in 1992. Charlotte was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Aurelia American Legion Auxiliary, Bible Study, the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Guild and MHI Retirees. In her free time, Charlotte enjoyed dancing, having parties, helping with the Cub Scouts and 4-H, and gardening. Most of all, Charlotte loved being around her family and friends. On September 27, 2010, Charlotte passed away at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Reilly; husband, Joseph V.
