Carolyn Jean Vaughan

Carolyn Jean Vaughan (McCauley) of Cherokee, Iowa passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023 at the age of 72 after a sudden battle with cancer.  Carolyn passed away at home surrounded by her family.  

Carolyn was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Helen McCauley on October 12, 1950.  She later moved to Cherokee, IA.  Carolyn married and had three children.  On December 31, 1993, Carolyn met Eric Passmore, who was her match made in heaven.  She loved traveling with Eric, looking at recipes, and spending time cooking/baking.   

Carolyn’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time together.  Her favorite was taking lots of pictures.  Carolyn was a beautiful person who loved her family and friends dearly.  Her laugh and happiness were contagious, and she will be missed deeply.  

Carolyn is survived by her significant other, Eric Passmore, of Cherokee, IA; Her children Dave (Jodie) Vaughan of Windsor, CO; Kristi (Bob) Phipps of Aurelia, IA; Vicki (Brian Nelson) Allbaugh of Des Moines, IA; Her grandchildren Amanda (Todd) Townsend of Ankeny, IA; Alex Allbaugh of Atlanta, GA; Alyssa Triebwasser of Aurelia, IA; Adam (Andrea) Phipps of Aurelia, IA; Breanne Vaughan of Windsor, CO; and Ryan Vaughan of Castle Rock, CO; and Sara Shupe of Aurelia, IA. Her great-grandchildren Bosh Sobczak, Veronika Lepley, Tobin, Othia, and Emmarie Triebwasser, Danika, Ivy and Jacob Shupe, and Kade and Paisley Phipps. In addition, Carolyn was survived by her stepchildren Windy, Jacob, Russel, Nicole, Tim, and Chris.  

Carolyn is preceded in death by her mom, Helen McCauley; grandparents William and Mae (Dixon) McCauley; great-grandson Ryker Lepley; grandson Brett Phipps; and many aunts and uncles.
