Carolina B. Reinert, age 89 of Spencer, IA, and formerly Marcus, IA, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at a Sioux Falls, SD hospital surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Father Timothy Pick will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery, Marcus, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Carolina B. Reinert, the daughter of Andrew and Veronica (Cook) Reinert, was born on November 26, 1933, in in their home at Maryhill. Her childhood years were spent near Maryhill, where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Thomas Henry Carney, in 1951.
Carolina worked for the Cherokee Mental Health Institute in the food service industry for many years. She most recently had worked at Hy-Vee in Spencer, IA until her health did not allow her to.
In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and tending to her flowers and plants. Above everything else her family was always her number one priority, and she loved spending time with them the most.
On Monday, September 4, 2023, Carolina passed away at a Sioux Falls hospital at the age of 89. She was preceded by her siblings, Clarence Reinert, Lawrence Reinert, Rose Boothby, Hilda Carstens, LeRoy Reinert, Rita Dilocker, Edward Reinert, Cyril Reinert, Lorraine Brownmiller, Bob Rohder, and Vernon Reinert.
She will lovingly be remembered by her three children, Renee Marie Carney of Spencer, IA, Thomas Andrew (Teresa) Carney of Spencer, IA, and Kellie Lynn Carney of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren, Dawn (Brian Rupp) Carney, Emily (Bryan) Harris, JayDee Carney, Madison Selzer, Cassandra Mingus, Katie (Travis) Glassmaker, Thomas James (Tanya Lau) Carney Jr., Tohnya (Caleb) Brewer, Tyler Carney and fiancé, Ellie Hansen, Tara Carney,; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
