Barbara Hope Virelli, 90, of Royal, died Wednesday, December 29 at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa. Born October 20, 1920 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of Fred Jurgensen and Ethel Hogeboom Jurgensen. She married Edgar Foley with whom she had four children and was later married to Frank Virelli, Jr. with whom she had two children.
Barbara lived in Hartford, Connecticut most of her adult life where she worked for many years at Travelers Insurance and later at Parsons Diamonds in West Hartford, until her retirement in 1982.
Barbara moved to Royal in 1989 where she became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed visiting with her friends at Dinner Date; she loved cooking and baking for her grandchildren and friends; and she enjoyed doing crochet work and made many afghans for her family and friends.
Casket bearers will be her grandchildren: Michael Virelli, and his wife, Sarah of Melrose Park, Illinois; Tony Virelli, and his wife, Darla of Spencer; and Steven Virelli and his fiance, Stacy McCulley of Des Moines; and her great-grandchildren Joshua and Domenic Virelli of Melrose Park, IL.
She is survived by four sons, Jim (Linda) Foley of Indiana; Raymond Foley and Ronald Foley of Connecticut, and Jim (Pam) Virelli of Royal; two daughters Grace Mangiafico of Spencer, and Catherine (Curtis) Grady of Connecticut; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 3, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa
