Barbara Jean Keith, the daughter of Wilbur and Erma (Jones) Dooley, was born May 28, 1942, in Waterloo, IA. At an early age her family moved to California where she attended school and graduated from Chula Vista High School in California. She was united in marriage to John Scot Boren and they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
On February 27, 1971 she was united in marriage to George Brewer in Elk Point, SD. They resided on a farm south of Cherokee. Barbara worked as a bartender and waitress most of her life. She owned Barb's Place for several years and also worked at the V.F.W. in Cherokee.
Barbara enjoyed flowers and gardening. She loved to camp, hunt, and socialize with her friends. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Barbara passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Accura Health in Cherokee at the age of 74. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Floyd and Clara Jones; parents, Wilbur and Erma Dooley; and one son, Ronald Boren.
She is survived by her children; Scot Boren of Missouri Valley, IA, Matthew Boren of Missouri Valley, IA, JoAnn (Stan) Remington of Hiawatha, KS, and Judy (Phil) Stowater of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren: Kirk, Kyle, Kolton, Chance, Cody, Cole, Ryder, Madison, Caden, Zachory, Chelsie, Dakota, Gabe, Ryan, Michelle, and Brandon; special lifetime friend, George Brewer; and other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee.
