Barbara A. Timmins

Barbara Ann Timmins was born on Jan. 15, 1954 in Cherokee, IA to Dale, Sr. and Patricia Neustrom Bakker. She graduated from Washington High School in 1973 and earned an Associate's Degree in Interior Design in Bettendorf. Barbara was united in marriage to Doug Van Pelt in 1973. To this marriage a daughter Patrice was born. She married Donald Mortenson in 1983 and a son Ronald was born. She was later united in marriage to Dave Timmins in 1989, and has one step-daughter Stacy. Barbara spent the greatest part of her life in Cherokee where she was always a caregiver. She was also employed at The Shamrock, Country Pastime, Sioux Valley Hospital, K-Mart, Cherry Street House, and MHI. Barbara was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Cherokee. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all. She was proud of her grandchildren Jack, Anna, Malcolm, and baby Myles. She had a gentle, quiet nature, seeing only the best in everyone. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her children, Patrice Noble and husband Lance of Polk City; CPT Ronald Mortenson and wife Apryl of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Jack and Anna Noble, Malcolm and Myles Mortenson; her father and step-mother Dale Bakker, Sr. and his wife Marion of Cherokee; siblings Mick Bakker and wife Sue of Cherokee, Cindy Sizeland and husband Harry of Cherokee, Deb Green of Hamilton, MT, John Bakker of Spirit Lake, Tom Bakker and wife Jacque of Tea, SD, Linda Torgenson and husband Kirk of Draper, UT; sister-in-law, Lauren Bakker of Cherokee; step-siblings Shannon Goth and husband Ron of Cherokee, Dan Hale and wife Deb of Sutherland, Shawn Hale and wife Vickie of Cherokee, Ryan Hale and wife Char of Sutherland; special friend Ron Henderson; and many other friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Bakker, brother Dale Bakker, Jr, David Timmins, and Donald Mortenson.
