Arlene Radke

May 6, 1921 — March 9, 2015

Arlene Helen (Feldman) Radke, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on May 6, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Nora (Best) Feldman. Her childhood years were spent in Storm Lake, and she graduated from Storm Lake High School. After moving to Cherokee, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Montgomery Ward and Gibson's stores. Of utmost importance to Arlene were her faith and her family. She served as a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, attending Bible Study and Sunday services as long as her health would allow her to do so. A special ministry for her was crocheting baby afghans, mittens, caps and prayer shawls for people in need. She loved creating the items, but more than anything, enjoyed giving them away. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Even as her health began to fail, Arlene kept her 'spunky' personality. She passed from this life on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center, having reached the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Charles Feldman, and a granddaughter, Amy Paltz. Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Sharon Paltz of Aurelia and a son, Steve Radke of Waubay, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Denny Paltz and his wife Valerie of Cherokee and Angie Paltz of Aurelia; her great-grandchildren, Samantha Paltz, Keelin Paltz and step great-granddaughter, Haleigh Patterson; a very special cousin, Dave Bulgrin of Cherokee; other relatives and friends.
