Ardy Dunn, born Ardythe Irene Schaller, on August 30, 1926, at home on a farm north of Meriden, IA, to Walter and Elizabeth (Heinl) Schaller. Ardy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, at Accura Care Center, Cherokee, IA. She was baptized on October 31, 1926, and confirmed on March 24, 1940, at St. Mark’s Lutheran, a country church north of Meriden, where her grandfather  had served as Pastor. She attended Liberty #5 country school for five years, and then Meriden Consolidated, where she graduated as class valedictorian in 1944. Ardy worked as a legal secretary until her marriage to her high school sweetheart, James C. Dunn on August 31, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. She and Jim farmed south of Meriden until retirement, raising livestock, a large garden, and their five children- with hard work, fun times, and always lots of love.

Ardy was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran. She always loved quilting and coffee time with her many friends, reading, and playing cards – competitively.  Ardy was proud to have helped with decorating a float in the Rose Parade at age 80; and she helped with delivery of Meals on Wheels into her 90’s. She had a very strong faith; and if she knew you, then you know she prayed for you.

She was a sweet, content and simply wonderful lady and we were blessed to call her ours.  She will be greatly missed by her children: Diane (Gary) Swanson of Sioux City, IA, Jim (Karen) Dunn of Laramie, WY, Debi (Cliff) Meylor of Okoboji and Estero, FL, and daughter-in-law, Shari Dunn of Cherokee, IA; 11 grandchildren: Jeff, Jon, and Justin Swanson, Clint and William Dunn, Jade Meylor, and Molly Meylor-Scott, Brent Dunn and Alissa Dunn-Hammond, and Angie Demaree and Amber Shriver; 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter due in July; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and many adoring cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 2004, and precious children, Mary Elizabeth in 2015, and Mark in 2023; two grandchildren, Douglas Swanson and Kari Meylor; her brother Duane Schaller, and his wife Ann.

"Well Dunn, thou good and faithful servant”. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts.
