Amos A. Leonard, Sr.

Amos was born May 2, 1929 in Cherokee, Iowa to Herbert A. and Marvel (Filer) Leonard. He was educated in the Quimby area, graduating from Quimby Consolidated School in 1948. On July 16, 1950 he married Alma Wilmot in Cherokee, Iowa. For many years, Amos farmed and also worked for Smith Feed Yard. Following a move to Cherokee he worked for OBECO for many years. Amos was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader. He loved to spend time with his family, also enjoying gardening, bird watching, walking, and playing cards. Survivors include his wife, Alma; children, Amos "Skip" Leonard, Jr., and his wife, Kelly, of Ida Grove, Iowa; Becky Lucht, and her husband, Russ, of Larrabee, Iowa; April Veit, and her husband, Duane, of Odebolt, Iowa; Clint Leonard, and his wife, Michelle, of Remsen, Iowa; Jason Leonard, and his wife, Jill, of Spearfish, South Dakota; 7grandchildren, Roxanne, Jacob, Christie, Rhonda, Andrea, Jared, and Cody; 8 great-grandchildren, Christian, Tyson, Austin, Catherine, Evan, Ryan, Ethan, and Dylan; a brother, Monteno Leonard, and his wife, Beverly, of Washta, Iowa; a special niece, Gina Edwards, of Holstein, Iowa; and many loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wayne Leonard.
