Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home’s service to families began in 1953, when Frank Greenwood and Don Whitlach purchased Schmidt Funeral Home in Cherokee. The funeral home was known as Greenwood and Whitlach Funeral Home until 1955, when Don Whitlach moved from the Cherokee area and the name was changed to Greenwood Funeral Home. In 1976, following the death of Frank, his son Tim Greenwood and his wife Patty moved back to Cherokee to own and operate the family funeral home. For over 65 years Greenwood funeral Home has offered thoughtful, caring, and compassionate funeral service to the families of Cherokee and the surrounding areas.
Today the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home is owned and operated by former Cherokee native Matt Schubert and his wife Julie. In an effort to better serve Cherokee County, in the summer of 2010, Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home started construction on its second location located in Marcus, IA, and it was completed in September 2010.
We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve you and along with Andrea Orthmann and our staff of caring professionals, we look forward to maintaining the reputation of providing thoughtful, caring, and compassionate funeral service that you’ve come to expect from Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home.
