Leland "Lee" Darwin Sellers

Leland Darwin Sellers, the son of Carl and Lola (Boggs) Sellers, was born May 25, 1935, in Boone, IA. He attended school in Marshalltown, IA where he graduated in 1953. Following graduation, he served in the National Guard and later enlisted in the military. While in the military, Lee was stationed in Germany, and served with the military police until his honorable discharge in December of 1958. In 1959, Lee joined the Iowa State Patrol and worked with them until his retirement on May 24, 2001.

 Lee enjoyed woodworking, target practice, working with the Iowa State Patrol and spending time with his wife, Janet.

 On October 6, 2020, Lee passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lola Sellers; and one brother, Russell Sellers.

 He will be remembered by his wife, Janet Sellers of Cherokee, IA; children, Dale Sellers of Bullhead City, AZ, and his children, Dusty and Brooke, Deb (Dave) Beaver of Charles City, IA and her children, Shannon and Jennifer, Mike (MaryJun) Sellers of Charles City, IA, and their children, Devin and Mikyla, Kim (Tim) Johnson, of Fort Dodge, IA, and their children, Hunter, Titan, Major, Zach, and Trinity, Cindy Stephenson of Shreveport, LA and her son, Brendon, and granddaughter, Alyssa Leigh, Julie (Steve) Dietz of Shell Rock, IA and their children, Ben Kleckner and Bambi Kleckner, and Jeff Sellers of Broken Arrow, OK; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Ella; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

SERVICES
A graveside memorial serivce will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cherokee.
OFFICIATING
Father Mark Stoll
VISITATION
No visitation is planned.
INTERMENT
Mount Calvary Cemetery
Cherokee, Iowa

Military rites will be conducted by the Cherokee V.F.W. L.A. Wescott Post 2253 and the Cherokee American Legion.
