“Clark and family,

I always enjoyed seeing your Dad. We had many good visits over the years, be it at Culligan, while we were ushering at church or at the gas station (where I used to tease him about seeing him buy lottery tickets but only seeing Clark's name in the paper as a winner!). When I told Colleen that he had passed on she said, "he was a nice man". We will always remember the nice man and good man and friend that he was and the example he set. Please accept our sincere condolences.”

“I was saddened to see the announcement of "Chesty's" death in the Sioux City paper. I enjoyed working with him during my growing up years on the farm one-half mile south of you. Shelling corn, bailing hay and straw, and other such times together were fun times, in hindsight. I also remember a time when we were showing cattle at the Ida County Fair. Chesty was going to stay later to see the sites of the fair after dark. My Dad and your Dad agreed I could stay also and that Chesty would bring me home. I was not all that old at the time and now that I am older, I realize that he probably didn't want to have this little twerp around during his night out at the fair. But he treated me very well and I appreciated my "first" night out without my parents. Once again, please accept my condolences. Dennis Johnson........for your information Sharon and I live in Anthon, Iowa. I came here to be the school superintendent 35 years ago, and we are still here.”
