Lyle Dean Kruger, the son of Helmer and Lydia (Christians) Kruger was born November 10, 1937 in Rock Rapids, IA. Lyle learned as a young child the gift of gab. His aunts raised him, having lost his mother at the age of 2. When Lyle's father married Lena he attended school in Ashton and learned the carpentry trade from his father. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army for two years. When he returned home he opened a mechanic shop in Royal, IA with his brother Helmer.
